Every fall I receive literally dozens of emails from students all over the world asking me for a letter stating that I agree to be their supervisor for the PhD program and support their application for the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship for PhD students. No professor at the Graduate Institute can furnish such a letter.

Our two PhD programs are North American in their form and involve a competitive application process that you can find out more about on the Graduate Institute website. Professors do not “admit” students individually and there are no “PhD positions” per se ! Let me be even more explicit: no professor at the Graduate Institute can commit to supervising you before you have been admitted to one of our programs. Point final.
